A Bunkhouse Boat...

  • Extends boating to three seasons

  • Is easy to trailer, launch, and operate

  • Requires minimal maintenance

  • Can winter outside without shrink wrap

  • Is roomy, bright, and comfortable

  • Combines what other boats do in one simple, tough, and handsome package

The Hull

We searched for an existing and proven hull design and found it in a rugged and versatile workboat called the Workskiff C-Series.  The uniquely modified cathedral hull strikes a perfect balance between stability and cutting waves, is rectangular to maximize usable space and minimize the depth of water needed to float the boat, and is thick gauge aluminum so it's tough but lightweight.  After working with Workskiff to modify our hull, we knew we had chosen not only the right hull, but the right company.  This hull is even better suited for the multiple uses of a Bunkhouse Boat than the awesome hull that we built our prototype boat on!

The Cabin

Next, we identified the optimal ratio of the three spaces we wanted: uncovered deck, cabin, and covered deck.  We simulated dozens of ideas to maximize functionality. Here's how we dealt with three of the big ones:

  • Boating is a naturally cool and breezy activity on a hot day and we generally choose not to boat during cold weather so our Bunkhouse does not have air conditioning or heating, but they will be options on our 2024 model.

  • One can tend to their personal needs without dedicating precious square footage to things that take a matter of minutes per day. On the 2024 Bunkhouse, in a matter of seconds, you'll be able to convert the entire back deck into a luxuriously large private bathroom.

  • You can make a good meal without trying to replicate your home kitchen and without restricting yourself to the cabin. Our top bunks provide tons of counter space, portable camp stoves and grills work great, and dishes will be easy using the same hot water hose and nozzle that you'll use for showering on the back deck of the 2024 model.  An in-cabin galley will be an option on the 2024 model, in exchange for 1 of the 6 sleeping spaces.

The Bunkhouse

We considered every detail, debated, improved, and innovated until we were able to high five and move on to the next topic. The result is an overall design and classic fastback roofline that turns heads on the water and triggers conversations at the marina, because form truly does follow function. We know of no boat like it, and with six equally spacious sleeping spaces, there’s no need to draw straws at bedtime.  This feature, in such a compact footprint, earned the boat its humble and understated name, the Bunkhouse.

Disclaimer: Any similarities to the coolest car ever (1968 Chevelle SS), or shared features with certain boats used by James Bond are purely coincidental.
